Call2Recycle and Ascend Elements have announced a partnership aimed at managing electric vehicle batteries at the end of their lifecycle.
Call2Recycle, a collections, logistics, and recycling program, and Ascend Elements, a provider of sustainable battery material solutions, are collaborating to solve many of the concerns surrounding used EV batteries, especially the assumption that these batteries end up in landfills. The companies plan to establish a circular supply chain through Call2Recycle’s GreenTraxEV platform.
GreenTraxEV, a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform developed by Call2Recycle, is the centerpiece of this agreement. It is purpose-built to efficiently handle mid-life, end-of-life, and damaged-defective EV batteries. Powered by Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft Power Platform, GreenTraxEV simplifies the scheduling, routing, and logistics involved in EV battery management.
Leo Raudys, CEO of Call2Recycle, discussed how the GreenTraxEV platform functions, which begins with secure transportation that takes EV batteries to recycling, repurposing, or repair facilities. The platform uses SaaS automation to simplify battery-related tasks, and it is designed to match the automotive industry's shift towards EVs, providing battery management throughout each battery’s lifecycle.
The partnership with Ascend Elements encompasses a range of features: onboarding, training verification, scheduling, battery dispositioning, safety checks, container assignment, shipping, battery tracking, container tracking, invoicing, and automated routing. GreenTraxEV customers can benefit from centralized decision-making aligned with original equipment manufacturer goals, and the flexibility to adapt to unforeseen events such as market shifts or transportation disruptions.
Ascend Elements, a specialist in engineering and manufacturing sustainable EV battery materials, will customize the GreenTraxEV workflow to meet the unique needs of each user. This tailored approach will help Ascend Elements and its customers to directly oversee the journey of EV batteries, whether for recycling or delivery to research and development, remanufacturing, or repurposing facilities.
With the growing demand for EV battery collections and recycling and the goal of preventing EV batteries in landfills, the collaboration between the two companies is driven by the Inflation Reduction Act to promote clean energy initiatives. As Ascend Elements’ focus is on sustainable, close-loop battery material solutions, its partnership with Call2Recycle intends to ensure that batteries are safely repurposed.
